Riding with a carsick doggie is no fun for anyone. Try these five tips.

1. Go through a few practice runs in the car, gradually increasing the distance each time.
   
2. Feed your doggie only a small meal two to three hours before you travel.
   
3. Use a dog seat belt to face your doggie forward.
   
4. Balance the air presssure, by opening windows a couple of inches while in motion.
   
5. Keep the atmosphere cool and well ventilated.
   

Changes in water types can upset your doggie's tummy. Bring your own water from home, or purchase bottled water during the trip.

Always carry along your doggie's rabies vaccination record, as some states requires this proof at certain interstate crossings.

Make sure your dog has a tag with contact information imprinted on it. If your doggie has been microchipped, bring the chip information with you. If he hasn't been chipped consider do so.

In addition to travel papers, food, bowl, leash, a waste scoop, plastic bags, grooming supplies, medication and a pet first-aid kit, pack a favorite toy or pillow to give your doggie a sense of home.

Plan your stops at pet-friendly locations so that your doggie is not left alone in the car.

Avoid feeding your doggie in a moving vehicle; provide a light meal three to four hours before you leave.

Doggies should travel in a well-ventilated crate or carrier; large enough for your doggie to stand, sit, lie down and turn around in.
